Visited the blog of someone who generously commented on my photo entry for “entrance,” as well as “liked” it. I say “generously” because Mike Hardisty is the real thing…a photographer par excellence! As with Bain Waves I only needed to peruse one post to know that I needed to direct your attention to his blog, Mike Hardisty. Click on http://mikehardisty.wordpress.com/2011/08/10/rhyl-air-show-2011/ and bear witness to some amazing aerial feats. My mouth was agape the entire time. Wish I could’ve been there in person to see all the action for myself. But since I couldn’t be in the UK…Mike Hardisty brought the action to me…
and now…you………hugmamma.
and one more…
Great shots. He must be good. I’ll have to check it out.

Thank you so much for the pingback. My secret is to use a 500mm lens which brings the action really close. It’s a bit heavy so normally I support it with a monopod. I also use burst mode on my camera which lets me track the aircraft across the lens. Once I’ve got the focus right, I press the shutter and the camera takes several shots at a time, which makes it easier to get a good one. A benefit of living in the digital age, I suppose. Liiving by the sea I photograph a lot of birds in flight so that’s ideal practice for the air show.

My pleasure! I like sending my readers to blogs deserving of attention, which yours obviously is. I like taking pictures, but realize that photographers like you have the passion to take it to a whole other level of expertise. I’m certain I speak for many in thanking you, and others in your league, for sharing the results of your work.
hugs for giving us reality…in all its exquisiteness… 🙂
