I hate to rub it in, but this is what everyday life is like in Hawaii.
Islanders can put in a full day’s work…and still head to the beach. One brother-in-law surfs at 6 a.m. And it’s commonplace for workers to lunch at the beach, and for families to picnic there in the evening.
Makes me homesick for the islands.…but i’ve memories galore…
………hugmamma.
There is something to be said for a “laid back” lifestyle……

Yes…I wasn’t even near the sea since 2006. so water attracts me a lot.

As I get older, the draw for me grows since I grew up near the ocean as a child. Watching the waves roll up on the shore is therapeutic…so serene. Even when they thunder in, slamming against the sand…I’m awestruck.

Did you find the dog walker funny? I did. I had to do a couple of doubletakes. Not a bad job to have walking down Waikiki Beach…basking in the warmth of the sun…and the cool trade winds blowing…
…aaahhh… 🙂

I know. Life is so laid back. The sun almost always shines. Days, and nights, are casual. Getting together with friends and family is relatively easy. We organized an evening picnic at the beach with a morning’s notice. Folks came after work, picking food up on the way. Yummy potluck!
…fun memories, for sure… 🙂

and i hear that everyone leaves their shoes outside all doors (including stores) and goes barefoot. is that still true? I would love that. I am SO anti-shoes!

Yes, it is customary to remove one’s shoes when visiting someone’s home. I think the custom is of Japanese origin. They were early immigrants to the Hawaiian islands. It’s not necessary to do so at stores, however. That might be a nightmare keeping track of everyone’s shoes.
…it is lovely wearing flip flops…or going barefoot…all the time. 🙂
