don’t talk…to strangers

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..........

A stranger, seated next to a young girl on an airplane, turned to her and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard that flights go faster if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passengers.”

The young girl, an avid reader who had just opened her book, Too Much Stuff, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, “What would you like to talk about?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” said the stranger.  “How about nuclear power?”

“OK,” she said. “That could be an interesting topic.  But first let me ask you a question.  A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff – grass – yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?”

The stranger, visibly surprised by the young girl’s intelligence, thinks about it and says, “Hmm, I have no idea.”

To which the future Op-Ed contributor replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don’t know shit?”

    • So delighted to be sharing the same special day with you…my dear, happy-go-lucky, crafty friend from half a world away! Makes a great day…even more spectacular…even though we are getting on in years. 😉 I’m hoping you do something devilishly wonderful. Saw my daughter perform last night on stage…and so my birthday got off to a wonderful start. 🙂 Am looking forward to more time with she and my husband tomorrow and for the next couple of weeks. Having my loved ones around me is all I need to celebrate. 🙂

      i’m certain you’ll bless others with your warmth and humor…have a happily-ever-after birthday!!! 🙂

Anyway…looks like you and I were doing what we wanted on our birthdays…spent time with family…and rested. Can I ask what kind of work you do? Bet you’re great at it, whatever it is. Hope you work with people…you’re great at forging relationships…look at us…ha, ha…

          huge hugs…hugmamma. 🙂

    • Am so glad I struck a nerve with so many people. Everybody needs a sense of humor…especially nowadays. There should be a global day of laughter. That would be a start…in the right direction… 🙂
