serving up…lemonade

When life serves up lemons…it’s time to make lemonade.

Bitter Lemons

I’ve had what feels like a wagon load of lemons dumped in my lap recently, with news from John Burke of WordPress advising me that I’m with WordPress.org, not WordPress.com. Without signing on the dotted line, without paying dearly for the privilege someone on the WordPress staff honored me with my own independent website. Not sure how or why it happened. I just found out myself.

It’s reminiscent of the time, about a year ago, when I was spammed from leaving comments on other WordPress blogs. WordPress support told me they didn’t know anything about it, that I’d have to check with Akismet. To say I was frustrated was putting it mildly. The final straw was when they suspended my blog saying I was advertising which was against regulations. Wow! That was like a blow to the gut.

I began gathering my belongings, so to speak, to exit WordPress. My dear hubby wrote to WordPress saying my blog would be missed. That seemed to get the right person’s attention because I got an email apologizing for the mistakes. My blog was reinstated.

I found out later that WordPress had been badly hacked. It seemed my blog got caught in the cross-hairs as they were attempting to fix the mess.

So what is it this time? God bless these “happiness engineers” who come up with the latest and the best on WordPress. Just when I’ve settled into a comfortable routine, they up and change things. I know they’re trying to help this 62-year-old grow new brain cells in an effort to ward off Alzheimer’s. Too much stress, however, can counter their best-laid plans.

So I guess I’ll just keep puttering and see what other lemons are in store. Meanwhile…

…lemonade…anyone?…

………hugmamma.  🙂

    • The whole spamming thing is a nightmare! Did you get spammed out of leaving comments on other blogs? When that happened to me I felt I was totally isolated. Not a great feeling, not being able to communicate with anyone. Glad your situation is over.

  1. I’m glad you’re getting it figured out. This Internet stuff is really out of our hands. I am still struggling to get promotional copy removed from my book description on Amazon. There doesn’t appear to be any way for me to remove it myself. And I’m getting the runaround from Amazon, then Createspace, and now I have to try Author Central. Argh.

I’ll have some of that lemonade, thank you.

  2. They can’t keep a good woman down. . . lemons to lemondade indeed. Hang in there hugmamma. You see—any time anyone tries to squelch our joy, the joy of the candle lighters, we will arise. Our numbers are legion. Phoenix arises from the ashes. I still don’t see how they can have switched you without telling you. Especially if they are running ads on your free blog. Regardless–i see that your link says wordpress.com again. does that mean you are back on wordpress.com and off of wordpress.org?

    • When I bought my domain in June, I had the option of using either URL…www.hugmamma.com or http://www.hugmamma.wordpress.com…as my primary one. I didn’t switch to http://www.hugmamma.com right away, fearing my traffic would be affected adversely. But I kept getting a prompt at the top of my dashboard screen telling me to click on “hugmamma.com” to update my status. Since I paid $17 a year for the privilege I thought I might as well start using what I paid for. Things have been going along just fine, except for problems trying to insert youtubes, which I’ve resolved with the help of your blogger friend. But then this new hitch occurs, and I’m not sure what it means.

So I’ll continue to blog hoping that I’ve still some friends like yourself who’ll still be reading what I write.

…guess i’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop… 😉 if it does…my candle and i will still spread the word…even if it’s not on wordpress…hugs!!! 🙂
